CAEM 2020 Annual Conference Cancellation
Annually, we look forward to the CAEM Conference as an important time to connect, share and learn together. We are facing a unique global challenge with the COVID-19 pandemic, sparking public health concerns and presenting our industry with an unprecedented challenge. CAEM’s first priority is ensuring the safety and well being of our members. As such, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 CAEM Annual Conference, scheduled to take place from June 28-30, 2020 at the Brookstreet Hotel in Ottawa.
Cancellation was necessitated by the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), the Province of Ontario and the City of Ottawa’s increased restrictions on mass gatherings and requirements for physical distancing. These regulatory entities are advising the public to prepare for restrictions to remain in place for several months. The latest PHAC COVID-19 updates can be found here. We have also taken into account the ongoing uncertainty around COVID-19 and its devastating impact on the exposition industry at large.
We would like to take a moment to acknowledge the entire Conference Committee, who was working hard to produce an outstanding program, as well as thank everyone who was planning on attending the 2020 CAEM Annual Conference. If you have already registered or committed to sponsoring the conference, we will be in touch with you shortly to process a refund or transfer your funds to a future event, should that be your preference. CAEM remains committed to continuing our tradition of connecting, sharing and learning face-to-face, but at a time when it is safe to do so. Until then, CAEM continues to be here, ready to help the industry navigate this challenging time. Building on our efforts and actions over the last couple of weeks, CAEM will now be turning our resources and attention towards research and advocacy for the exposition industry. We will also be developing different programming options and events in order to continue equipping and empowering our members with valuable information and resources.
