CAEM Exposition Recovery Taskforce Update – June 15

June 15, 2020

What You Need to Know This Week

The Canadian Exhibition Industry – Safe Reopening Guidelines were finalized early last week, after receiving guidance and input from public health experts at Infection Prevention and Control Canada. With this document finalized, the CAEM Exposition Recovery Taskforce broke off into provincial/regional groups to tailor the messaging and language at a provincial level and to align on advocacy strategies.

The priority for this week ahead is to circulate the Safe Reopening Guidelines, to each of the Provincial Ministers who received our Position letters in late May, and to request a meeting to work together with government on a reopening plan for our sector.

The Taskforce will regroup with a full meeting the week of June 22nd to discuss next steps in terms of government advocacy and strategy.

Key Developments

We will need your support once again as we go live with our grassroots online advocacy campaign later this week to get the Safe Reopening Guidelines into the hands of key decision makers.

Later this week, you will receive an email, with step-by-step instructions, for how you and your organization can personally help CAEM advocate for the responsible, safe and effective reopening of our industry.

Industry Initiatives: COVID-19 Tourism Workforce Impact Survey

Tourism HR Canada would appreciate your support in completing this Workforce Impact Survey. The research will assist Tourism HR Canada in making policy and program recommendations specific to addressing workforce needs during and post COVID-19. The research will also help to assess the effect of government programs like the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy and Regional Relief and Recovery Fund in mitigating the effects of COVID-19.
