President’s Message – July/August 2018
It’s hard to believe that over a month has passed since the Annual Conference at Blue Mountain. The experience of learning, sharing and connecting with members is proof positive that we truly are #BetterTogether. A collective thank you goes out to co-chairs Heather MacRae, Kyle Dugan and Dominique Gagnon who worked diligently with Olivia Weir and Shayna Asgill from Redstone to bring CAEM a truly memorable and enriching experience.
Planning for CAEM continued into the hot and humid days of summer when the Board met to identify the next steps for our Association as a whole. Committee Structure, Sponsorship Strategies and Membership Value Assessment processes and timelines were hammered out during a full-day planning workshop, which proved very fruitful. Expect to see the Association build on the hard work accomplished by the previous Administration. Our Association’s success depends upon thoughtful and consistent committee work, which is supported by the Redstone Team as well as valued sponsors who support our Signature Events and the Industry as a whole.
Speaking of Signature Events, many members gathered on July 25th at the Crooked Cue, to network, dine and hone our billiards expertise as well as music trivia and wine tasting skills during the Summer Social Event. Thanks to all who attended and sponsored the event and of course, to the organizing committee led by Kelly Antonaros and Laurie Paetz.
Moving into August, we look forward to activating our partnership with Incentiveworks where we will gather and share our learned experiences at the show and conference. As we progress through the year, the Board is committed to sourcing and activating even more of these strategic partnerships with like-minded associations and industry groups. We have begun to expand our relationship with IAEE in order to develop more resources for our members. Stay tuned as we continue to enrich our member experience by connecting with these and other partners.
One of our summer projects includes sending out a Member Needs Assessment Survey to the entire association. It is very important that the Board and Committee work reflects your needs, so please take the time to complete it thoughtfully. Your input will inform CAEMs direction – so it’s important!
Coming up next, there will be two CEM Courses: Floor Plan Development and Security, Risk, and Crisis Management on November 14th and 15th at Beanfield Centre. Information and a link to register may be found on our website. Following that, The Holiday Luncheon will be the next opportunity for the membership to gather. I look forward to the privilege of face-to-face time with members during this very popular CAEM Signature Event.
In the meantime, please enjoy the rest of your summer and thank you for your membership.
Yours in CAEM,
Catherine
