2021 COVID-19 Impact Survey

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS WEEK

EXTENSION TO CEWS & CERS
On March 3rd, the Federal Government announced an extension to the Canadian Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) and the Canadian Emergency Rent Subsidy (CERS) through to June 2021, confirming as well that 2019 will be used as the baseline for the calculation of the subsidy.  Undoubtedly this is good news for our industry, but rest assured that CAEM will continue to advocate for sector specific changes to these programs including their extension through to June 2022, for our very hard hit industry.  For more details about this announcement, click here.

COVID-19 IMPACT SURVEY

Last November, CAEM conducted a survey to quantify and qualify the impacts of COVID-19 on the trade and consumer show industry, with the goal of using the data to strengthen our advocacy for sector-specific funding.

The  responses we received from you were critically important and we are grateful for your support.  The data gleaned from the survey has enabled us, along with our public affairs firm, Crestview Strategy, to create the compelling brief and fact sheet we shared with you a few weeks ago.  Crestview has been sending these documents to MPs, requesting meetings so we can personally explain the devastating impact the pandemic has wrought on our industry and to make our very compelling case for sector-specific funding.  CAEM has successfully secured meetings with a number of MPs, the details of which we look forward to sharing with you in our newsletter next week.

Now that we are well into 2021, we are asking for your help once again to fill out a survey which will provide CAEM with updated data regarding the impact of the pandemic on your business.  This survey will take less than 5 minutes to complete and it is totally anonymous.
