ONTARIO MOVING TO STEP 3 OF REOPENING PLAN ON JULY 16TH
- Ontario will be entering Step 3 of it's Roadmap to Reopen on July 16th, five days earlier than anticipated. In Step 3, meeting and event spaces, conference centres and convention centres can reopen for indoor events at a 50% capacity or 1000 people, whichever is less. The outdoor capacity for these venues has now increased to 75% or 5,000 people for unseated events, whichever is less.
- In the case of both indoor and outdoor events maximum capacity must be posted; businesses must record the name and contact information of every member of the public; and 2 metres of physical distance must be maintained. The complete regulations for Step 3 are available here.
- Ontario will remain in Step 3 for at least 21 days and until 80 per cent of the eligible population aged 12 and over has received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 75 per cent have received their second, with no public health unit reporting less than 70 per cent of their population fully vaccinated. Once these thresholds are met, the vast majority of public health safety measures, including capacity limits for indoor and outdoor settings, will be lifted.
Today's news is very positive and the light at the end of this long tunnel is becoming brighter as we move through each phase of reopening. We know more work is required and we are actively pressing the Ontario government to increase capacity limits for trade and consumer shows. As always we will keep you up to date on any all developments.
