Block the Fraud: Trade Show List Spam, Room Block Pirates, and Scammers

Fraudulent solicitations targeting our industry are on the rise. Scammers often pose as legitimate sources, offering to sell attendee lists or hotel room blocks. Their goal is to collect personal or financial information—or trap recipients in their web of deceit.

CAEM is taking action. We’re developing a strategy and a toolkit to help members and their exhibitors recognize, report, and communicate about these scams.

In the meantime:

• Don’t reply, click links, or send money.

• Mark messages as spam and report them to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.

• Remind exhibitors that official communications come only from verified event organizers.
