Block the Fraud

Block the Fraud: Trade Show List Spam, Room Block Pirates, and Scammers

Fraudulent solicitations targeting our industry are on the rise. Scammers often pose as legitimate sources, offering attendee lists or hotel room blocks, with the intent of harvesting personal or financial information or defrauding recipients.

CAEM is taking action. We’re developing a strategy and a toolkit to help members and their exhibitors recognize, report, and communicate about these scams.

In the meantime:

  • Do not engage: don’t reply, click links, or send money.

  • Mark messages as spam and then report them to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre and the Spam Reporting Centre.

  • Remind your exhibitors that official communications come only from verified event organizers.

Together, we can protect our events and our industry.
